Democratic Teachers Council (DTC) was established in 2008 as a leading, popular and dynamic organization in Sylhet Agricultural University. It is a secular, non-political and progressive organization of this university. The main ideological basis of DTC is the history of a long struggle against the colonial rules and exploitation of the Bengali people, the bloody historical language movement, the consciousness and values gained through the liberation war and the independence that we achieved with the great leadership of Father of the Nation and Founder of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The mission of the council represents the interests of playing promoting roles as a collaborating organization with the cooperation of all national and international organizations to accelerate the level of education by introducing a single and uniform science-based secular education and research system. This organization is also committed to maintain tighter links with all the people irrespective of their colour, race, religion and gender who have profound love, honour and respect to the Founder of Bangladesh. The ultimate vision is to contribute in making the Sylhet Agricultural University as a center of excellence in agricultural education and research ensuring high-quality and accessible education, influential research and meaningful scholarly experiences in pursuit of local and global contributions to knowledge based on the ideals of Father of the Nation i.e. Bengali nationalism, democracy, secularism and socialism. The modernization and successful implementation of education, research and extension is a strong commitment of this organization.
